Savory Citrus Honey Garlic Chicken

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) for conventional ovens or 170°C (338°F) for fan ovens.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, honey, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
  3. Place the chicken thighs in a single layer in a shallow baking dish. Pour the prepared marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated. Optionally, add lemon slices for extra citrus flavor.
  4. Bake the chicken for 30 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  5. Once cooked, remove the dish from the oven. Sprinkle the chicken with lemon zest (if using) and chopped fresh parsley.
  6. Serve the chicken with your favorite roasted vegetables and potatoes for a complete and satisfying meal.

Tips:

  1. Feel free to adjust the amount of honey or soy sauce to your preference for sweetness or saltiness.
  2. If using bone-in chicken pieces, adjust the cooking time accordingly. Bone-in chicken may take an additional 10-15 minutes to cook through completely.
  3. For a thicker sauce, remove the chicken from the pan after cooking and whisk a cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with a little water) into the pan drippings. Bring to a simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Then, return the chicken to the pan and coat with the thickened sauce.
  5. This recipe is easily adaptable. You can substitute other citrus fruits like oranges for a different flavor twist.
  6. Additionally, experiment with different herbs or spices to create your own unique flavor profile.
