Ingredients

The Base & Sauce

  • 150{g}Extra Lean Beef Mince 5\% fat or less

  • 1/2 medium Onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced

  • 100ml Passata or Canned Chopped Tomatoes

  • 1 tbsp Tomato Puree

  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano and 1 tsp Dried Basil

  • Salt and Pepper – To taste

Toppings & Finish

  • Handful of Mushrooms, sliced

  • Handful of Bell Pepper, diced

  • 50g Lean Deli Meat (Ham, Turkey, or Chicken), shredded

  • 40g Low-Fat Mozzarella, grated (or other low-fat cheese)

  • Optional: Sliced Chillies or fresh Basil for garnish.

‍ Method

1. Prepare the Base (Stovetop)

  • Spray a small frying pan with non-stick cooking spray.

  • Place the pan over medium-high heat. Add the lean beef mince and cook until fully browned. Drain off any minimal fat.

  • Add the chopped onion and garlic. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until softened.

2. Build the Sauce

  • Stir in the tomato puree, oregano, and basil. Cook for 1 minute.

  • Pour in the passata (or chopped tomatoes). Season well with salt and pepper.

  • Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken into a rich base.

3. Assemble for Air Frying

  • Stir the diced bell pepper and mushrooms into the mince mixture.

  • Transfer the mince mixture into a small, air-fryer-safe dish or ramekin (ceramic or metal) that fits comfortably into your air fryer basket.

  • Arrange the remaining toppings (lean deli meat) evenly over the mince and sauce.

4. The Air Fryer Finish

  • Preheat your air fryer to 180°C(350°F.

  • Place the assembled dish into the air fryer basket.

  • Cook for 5-7 minutes to allow the base to heat through completely.

  • Remove the basket, sprinkle the 40g low-fat mozzarella evenly over the top.

  • Return the dish to the air fryer. Cook for another 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is beautifully melted, bubbly, and the edges are golden brown. Cooking time may vary based on your air fryer model.

5. Serve

  • Carefully remove the dish (it will be extremely hot). Garnish with fresh basil or chillies.

  • Serve immediately with a side of fresh salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
